T-Mobile G1 Reviews

They give the T-Mobile G1 a "Very Good" with 79% rating saying it, "Excellent, fun and intuitive new interface design from Google. Solid messaging and Web browsing options. Surprisingly good camera."

While it may LOOK like a regular phone, PCWorld says it only takes 5 minutes to realize the G1 is a gem - thanks to Android. Excellent ergonomics and call quality make it one of the best smartphones on the market.

Peter Ha keeps his review of the G1 "short and straight to the point", saying it appears as if Android is in beta and "held together by duct tape" but still calling it "the best alternative to the iPhone".

Far from the perfect package but as for the things that matter? It gets them done right! Although Android's first phone, the G1 acts like anything but a rookie.

The first phone with Google's open-source Android OS has generally impressive hardware and a touch screen that responds smoothly and quickly.

Gizmodo notes that the G1 seems "unfinished" and it is since Android is a work in progress. All-in-all a "good start" for Android and a clear indication of developments to come.

Calling it a "good first step" and noting it is more destined for consumers than business folks, Brighthand calls the T-mobile G1 "one of the forces in the smartphone market" thanks to Android.

Editors gave the G1 a 3.5 out of 5 saying, "The most exciting thing about the G1 isn't what you get in the box. It's Google's aforementioned App Market. The App Market added new programs every day of my review period, and the phone isn't even on the shelves yet."

They say the G1 is not a BlackBerry and not a Sidekick but... you could think of it as an adult Sidekick concluding it, "is what people have been waiting for, for a very long time."

(3.5 out of 5) They don't love the hardware but note, "the real beauty of the T-Mobile G1 is the Google Android platform, as it has the potential to make smartphones more personal and powerful. That said, it's not quite there yet, so for now, the G1 is best suited for early adopters and gadget hounds, rather than consumers and business users

Perhaps the most thorough review of the T-Mobile G1, Engadget breaks it up into a hardware review and software review concluding G1 owners are, "buying into one of the most exciting developments in the mobile world in recent memory"
